Wow...people really don't listen. I was explained that wellness plans are not insurance so it makes sense why all services aren't covered. The people at Savage are very caring about my pets and only recommend what they find is best for them. I put all my trust in them and have never been disappointed in the 4+ years ive been a Banfield client. Savage team always gets me in when needed and if anything im thankful they're open on the weekends. Sometimes we need to stop and be thankful and take some of the responsibility for what happens to our pets. Team Savage all the way!

The free exam quickly became not free for me as they push insurance plan. But like I said, the first year plan isn't a bad deal (reason why I jumped on board). I understand they might not make a lot of money off the first year insurance plans and so they push for other products and services, but they need to know they run the risk of turning away clients due to their vigorous up-selling techniques.

The following day was terrible. His foot oozed and bled all over the place. He was in so much pain that he was going crazy trying to get at his foot. I was worried because he was not drinking, eating, or going potty like normal. He was very sad and miserable. Out of nowhere his foot got EXTREMELY red. Right away we thought that it may be going septic. It was huge and did not look healthy or normal. Because of its fast-changing appearance, we took him back in...again. This time he was seen by a male vet. They took him in back right away. Not even two minutes later, the vet came out with him and bluntly said that it was just a bandage rash. We asked him basic questions and he was answering very rudely. My boyfriend's mom then commented on how they should at least take his temp. The vet impolitely invited us into the examination room to take his temp. The thermometer beeped, and he snottily shoved it in our faces and said "see, it's normal". We were just worried about my dog since he is part of the family. I get that we were scared and worried about nothing, but we did not need to be treated poorly. Approx $100 more, and still not able to be re-splinted due to infection.

My sons girlfriend brought her dog in 10/22/17 for a broken toe. They put a splint on it and said keep it dry. The put the cone on him (to Small). Since the cone was not the correct size he was able to reach it and lick it. That caused an infection. We of course got very worried. We brought him in on 10/30/17 saw a different vet was told this infection is common with splints. The vet pointed out that the cone was to small and that was why he was able to get at it. They said we need to let it air out and dry then we can have the splint put back on the next day. The infection drove him crazy he bent up the new bigger cone to get to it . It was a bloody mess. We were upset and worried. We brought him back the next day 10/31/17 again a different vet. I asked why they don't take their temperature because I was worried. The vet said fine we will take his temp snidely. Then he held the thermometer up and said see it's fine. WOW! Are you kidding! So the toe is still broke and the dog is miserable and after the snide attitude of the vet today will not go back there ever. Over 700.00 in to the leg and he is worse condition than when he was bought in.

My 9 month old dog broke a toe. I took him here because it was the only place open on a Sunday, though I was warned that this place sucked. When the vet came into the room she instantly riled-up my dog... the last thing a vet should do with an injured, high-energy puppy who I am trying to teach manners to. I was uncertain about this place when they failed to do the routine exams that most vets are required to do (take temp, check ears, listen to heart, etc.). They splinted my dog's foot/leg, and he was sent home wearing an e-collar fitted by the vet & tech. They told me to make sure that the splint stays dry, that he doesn't need to be seen for 1-2 weeks, and that was it. He was also sent home with a bottle of 14 pain pills. Got home, counted the pills, and there were only 10. Trying to rip me off? Who knows. My bill was close to $450.

11/1/17-Last night was bad. Yesterday when we were at the vet I asked him if Acepromazine and Simplicef on top of the Rimadyl would hurt him or make him sick. He said NO he should be fine. He was given the 1 1/2 Acepromazine and it knocked him out he could not get up. He ended up with diarrhea and didn't even wake up to go to the bathroom. Today he had diarrhea and even after he was done he acted like he still wanted to go. I am sure his stomach was cramping. Poor guy. To think he still has a broken toe that is no longer set and that process will have to be started all over again. He is going to a different clinic today because he is completely miserable. Another day of work missed by my sons girlfriend and myself to take turns being with him and get the other stuff done with the other animals on the hobby farm. Another sad day for all of us.

Quality care for your fur baby! The first year insurance wellness plan is a good deal. However, the staff is big on up-selling products and services (very annoying to me) that might not be needed. Doing your own research will help you in determining what's needed and what's not.

On day 4 of wearing the splint, it began to smell horrible. Did not think anything of it since he did not need to be seen anytime soon. By day 8 the smell was bad enough to make you sick, and I knew something had to be wrong. Took the splint off even though I was not supposed to, and it was full of blood and pus. His foot was extremely swollen and full of pressure sores. I immediately took him back, worried that the foot was dead. This time he was seen by a different female vet. Right away she commented on how his e-collar was too small... though it was fitted by another vet at this same clinic. Because his e-collar was too small, he was able to lick his splint which caused moisture to get under the splint and cause an infection. She then commented on how these infections are common with splints.. Why was I not warned about the risk of infection since they are so common? Had I known they were common, I would have taken my dog back on day 4! He would not have had to suffer! My boyfriend's mom came with me this time, and asked them why they did not check his ears or do the other routine exams. She then checked his ears (she wouldn't have had she not been called out on it). Turns out he also had an ear infection! So that could've been caught on the first visit had they done the routine stuff they should've been doing in the first place! $165 later my dog was sent home with antibiotics. We were told to leave the foot unwrapped so it could air dry, and were told to come back the following day to have it re-splinted...But had he been fitted with the right sized e-collar, would this have been avoidable?! We called in the next day to complain, and a manager did admit that they were in the wrong, and that they did more than likely cause this infection with their screw-up. I was refunded only $93 or so.

Expect marked-up product and services if you don't have insurance. That's how they get you on the plans. However, that's the case with most businesses.

Now I am over $700 into this, my dog still has a broken toe, and is in worse shape due to their mistake. I don't recommend this place and strongly urge you to take your pet somewhere else. This place is not worth your time or money.

This place is beyond amazing. I brought my cat here after he was attacked by a dog and he was not doing well at all. They brought him right back and started working. I was a mess but they sat down with me and explained all that they needed to do to get him put back together and were so patient and understanding. They did amazingly with him. I've taken my other cat here to get microchipped also. Highly recommend Banfield.

The insurance plans don't cover everything so be sure you know what it does and doesn't cover. They also auto renew so cancel beforehand if you no longer require it.
